Mr. Wattanasak Sueaiam, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, Mr. Veeris Ammarapala, Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), Dr. Dhanant Subhadrabandhu, President Thai Post Company and Mr. Viboon Kromadit, Director and Chief Marketing Officer Amata Corporation Public Company chaired the kick-off of a first pilot assistance campaign at Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate to help local farmers to distribute fruits to consumers, by setting up distribution points and providing pre-order channels. The event was held at Amata City Chonburi Lotus’s Plaza selling “Fa Lan” mangoes from Phichit province.
In the cooperation between the different parties, IEAT will lead to publicize the campaign among manufacturers in industrial estates and to encourage them to pre-order seasonal fruits such as mangoes, mangosteen, durian, longan etc.. The Thai Post will be responsible to establish an order management system and support delivery to manufacturers. In addition, selling areas will be set up for farmers within industrial estates.
The partnership was formed to help fruit farmers by implementing measures to manage the up-coming peak season of fruits and to tackle an eventual oversupply of fruits. The campaign is an initiative by the Ministry of Commerce led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit.
