In a push to accelerate sustainable development, Vietnam has embarked on a transformative journey to elevate its industrial parks (IPs) into eco-friendly hubs. Spearheaded by the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Program (GEIPP), supported by Switzerland, this initiative aims to convert industrial parks across several cities into eco-industrial parks. Funded by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of Switzerland and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) from 2020 to 2023, the program seeks to integrate environmental, economic, and social considerations into industrial development.

AMATA City Bien Hoa, among three industrial parks selected as models for the country, has played a pivotal role in this initiative. Over the past three years, the industrial park has undergone rigorous studies and executed comprehensive strategies to meet international standards of sustainability. This dedication has led to remarkable progress, with AMATA City Bien Hoa achieving an impressive 86% compliance rate with eco-IP standards by January 2024, a significant leap from its initial 41% baseline.
The recognition bestowed upon AMATA underscores its leadership and commitment to driving sustainable development. Evaluated by the board of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, UNIDO, and project experts, AMATA's achievements highlight its pivotal role in advancing Vietnam's industrial landscape towards sustainability.
On April 13, 2024, AMATA City Bien Hoa had the honor of hosting distinguished guests, including representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Dong Nai Industrial Zone Authorities, UNIDO, SECO, and leaders of participating industrial parks. This event provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing and best practices exchange, further enhancing collaboration in sustainable industrial development.
