Vientiane, April 8, 2026 – Amata U Company Limited, led by CEO Mr. Chawalit Tippawanich, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Électricité du Laos (EDL), represented by Deputy Director Mr. Suliya Maniwong. The signing ceremony was honored by the presence of H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Ambassador of Thailand to the Lao PDR. Through this collaboration, Amata U and EDL will jointly advance the development of energy infrastructure, spanning power generation, transmission, and management, to establish a robust utility framework that meets the evolving needs of investors for Amata’s innovative Smart and Eco City project in northern Laos.
On the occasion, Mr. Chawalit Tippawanich remarked "As we build a modern industrial city, energy is a key element, not just ensuring ample electricity to meet demand, but also providing a stable, resilient system that can support expansion and foster growth in the industrial sector and new investments in the future."
The initial phase of the park spans 930 hectares (5,812.5 rai), with projected power needs estimated at 300–400 megawatts. Demand will increase as the park ultimately grows to cover about 3,150 hectares (19,687.5 rai).
Mr. Varong Tangpraprutkul, Managing Director of Amata City Laos Co., Ltd., described the project's vision to become a fully integrated industrial city by harmoniously combining industrial, residential, and commercial spaces. This thoughtful integration aims to support both work and daily life within a single community. Thanks to its strategic location in northern Laos, which connects China and neighboring countries, Amata Smart and Eco City Namor is set to emerge as a critical economic gateway, efficiently linking regional supply chains.
Mr. Suliya Maniwong, Deputy Executive Director of EDL, emphasized EDL’s readiness to support various projects with technical expertise and grid development. He highlighted the importance of improving power system efficiency, stability, load management, and long-term transmission network advancement. Additionally, he underscored EDL's commitment to promoting clean energy, which is a strength for Laos and meets the sustainability goals of modern investors, while also elevating standards to align with international benchmarks.
This partnership between Amata U and EDL represents a pivotal advancement in establishing reliable power infrastructure for the industrial city.
